#NAD2026 FAQs

When and where is #NAD2026?

Join us in vibrant San Francisco, California, from June 30 to July 4, 2026, at the Hilton San Francisco Union Square for an unforgettable week of connection, learning, and celebration. We’ve planned an exciting lineup designed to rise, inspire and empower:

  • The conference kicks off on June 30 with the NAD Board meeting.
  • On July 1, the Council of Representatives (COR) convenes, welcoming delegates from State Associations and Affiliates.
  • From July 1st to 4th, a four-day workshop will be scheduled, consisting of a variety of presentations on Employment, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Medicare/Social Security, Community Engagement, Deaf Education, and Interpreting on top of specialized training sessions..
  • From July 2nd to July 4th, Exhibit booths consisting of top premier vendors partnering with NAD to provide information on updates on products, services and advocacy.

Evening events: 

  • July 1 We’ll come together for the vibrant Opening Ceremony.
  • July 2 brings the much-anticipated Cultural Extravaganza, featuring Deaf storytellers, performers, actors, and a celebration of community pride.
  • On July 3, don’t miss the thrilling College Bowl Championship, cheer on your favorite team.
  • Our week closes on July 4 with the festive Conference Bash and our inaugural Deaf Market Day, showcasing Deaf-owned businesses and artists from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Throughout the conference, you’ll have access to a rich array of exhibits, engaging workshops, and specialized training sessions tailored to elevate your professional and personal growth.

Who Attends the NAD Conference?

The NAD Conference brings together a vibrant, diverse, and growing community of individuals united by a shared commitment to equity, access, and connection.

Our attendees come from all walks of life — across generations, backgrounds, and lived experiences. They include community members, families, advocates, professionals, students, interpreters, service providers, government representatives, and allies — all rooted in their unique journeys and rising together to create positive change.

Whether you are deeply involved in the community or just beginning your journey, you are welcome here. At NAD 2026 in San Francisco, we celebrate where we come from and where we’re going — together.

Can I attend only part of the conference?

Yes! We understand that not everyone can attend the full week, so we offer à la carte registration options. You can register for workshops only or evening events only, depending on your interests and schedule. The Exhibit Hall is free and open to the public from July 2–4, 2026. A complete list of à la carte options and pricing is available on our registration page.

How do I become a presenter or panelist?

We welcome community members to submit proposals during our Call for Presentations. Details will be posted on the NAD website, shared through Communiqué email updates, and announced on social media once the submission period opens.

I’ve never been to a NAD Conference before, how can I get the most out of the experience?

Welcome! The NAD Conference is a powerful space to connect, learn, and recharge. Review the schedule in advance and plan sessions that match your interests and goals. Be sure to attend signature events like the Opening Ceremony, Cultural Extravaganza, and College Bowl—they’re energizing highlights of the week. Visit the Exhibit Hall to discover resources and Deaf-owned businesses. Stay up to date through our website, Communiqués and social media, and don’t hesitate to ask others for recommendations. Most importantly, pace yourself. It’s a busy and inspiring week!

Is the conference appropriate for young children?

Yes! Children of all ages must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. However, if you would like your children to have a separate experience on their own as you enjoy the Conference, and if they’re old enough, they can be a Jr. NAD Page! The Jr. NAD Pages program is geared towards deaf teens between 12 and 17 years old and interested in the inner workings and strategies of the NAD Conference.  Deaf Youth interested in participating in the program must meet requirements and apply.

Can I earn Continuing Education Units (CEU) at the conference?

Yes, different CEUs are available and you can add that to your registration cart!

Do I need to be a NAD member to attend?

Yes. NAD membership is required to register. Your membership helps support our advocacy and programming year-round. You can add or renew your membership during registration.

Can I bring a guest who isn’t attending the conference? 

Yes, but guests must be registered to access workshops or conference programming or meals. Tickets are available for purchase for select events onsite. 

What is the cancellation and refund policy?

All registrations are non-refundable. However, in cases of medical or personal emergencies, we may make exceptions with supporting documentation. Please email conference@nad.org for further information.

When will the exhibit hall be open?

The NAD Exhibit Hall will be open July 2-4, 2024 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM.; it is free and open to the public.

How can I purchase an exhibitor space in the exhibit hall?

Exhibitor applications will open later this summer. Once approved, you’ll receive a payment link and logistics information.

Can I buy NAD merchandise at the conference?

Yes! Our online store will launch during the conference, allowing you to browse and order items for direct delivery to your home. We’ll also have a limited supply available onsite, so be sure to stop by early and grab your favorites! If an item sells out, you’ll still have the option to place an order for shipping after the event.

What kind of public transportation is available?

San Francisco offers convenient transit options:

  • BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) – Powell Street Station is within walking distance
  • Muni Metro & Buses – Accessible throughout the city
  • Cable Cars – A historic and scenic way to get around
  • Rideshare and taxi zones – Located near the hotel entrance

Will there be networking opportunities?

Definitely! From social mixers to affinity group meet-ups and state association gatherings, there are many ways to connect with others.

Do you have media passes?

Yes. Media outlets must complete our Media Policy and Agreement by the stated deadline to receive credentials. More details will be available in late 2025.

What is the conference attire? 

There is no formal dress code; business casual is typical during the day, while casual attire is fine for evening events. Bring comfortable shoes and a light jacket, as San Francisco in July can be cool in the mornings and evenings, averaging 60–70°F (15–21°C). Layers are your best friend!

Why should I stay at the conference hotel?

Is the NAD Conference wheelchair accessible?

Yes. The hotel and all official venues are ADA compliant. Please indicate your access needs in advance so we can ensure proper accommodations.

When will discounted hotel room rates be available?

We’ve secured a special NAD Conference rate at the Hilton San Francisco Union Square for all attendees. Details about the discounted rate and how to book your room will be released soon. Stay tuned for updates on our website, social media, and through our Communiqué emails. We’ll circle back once booking is open!

What should I do if I lose something?

Visit the #NAD2026 Info Desk to report lost items or check if yours has been found. High-value items will be turned over to Hotel Security if not claimed.
